Q&A with Michelin-Starred Chef Jason Atherton
Last year, Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton launched three of the hottest new restaurants in London- Little Social in Mayfair, Social Eating House in Soho, City Social and Berners Tavern in Fitzrovia.
We recently had the pleasure to speak with the busy chef who is looking forward to an exciting 2018 managing his London hotspots.
1. How important is it to you to have a nice smile?
A nice smile is very important. It’s the first thing people see when you greet them, so if you can look after your smile, then why not!

2. If you weren’t a chef, what other line of work would you like to do?
I love being a chef- I’m very fortunate that I love my job. If I could be something else in the creative world, I suppose I’d like to act or do something where I could express myself.
3. What’s your favourite meal to cook at home for your family?
Probably pork-adobo as it is the girls’ favourite. It’s marinated pork in a soya sauce, bay leaf, black peppercorn and white vinegar.
4. Besides your own restaurants, where do you like to eat in London?
Barrafina in Soho, I love Barrifina, Min Jiang Chinese restaurant at the top of the Royal Garden Hotel and the Ledbury for a special occasion.
5. Can you tell us a little about City Social, the new restaurant you will be opening in the spring in Tower 42?
This is our homage to a really cool, very Art-deco period where the early 1900s in New York meets Pollen Street Social. It’s “Great Gatsby” style, lots of brass and warm colours.
You can sit at the top of Tower 42 where you will have 360 degree views of London, eating really beautiful food, very simply served, but really elegant in a really glamorous dining room.
