Teeth Whitening London

Simple, yet effective tooth whitening is one of the fastest ways to improve your smile.

Teeth Whitening in London

One of the quickest and most effective ways to improve your smile is through teeth whitening. Not only do whiter teeth look healthier but it is also a sign of youthfulness- just one hour in the dentist’s chair is the ultimate trick to looking younger.

Here at The London Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer both in-practice and at-home teeth whitening treatments. Both methods are the safest and most effective ways to whiten your teeth, giving amazing, long-lasting results, without the worry that you will damage your smile.

Am I suitable for teeth whitening?

Thanks to the range of treatments available now, most patients will be eligible for teeth whitening – even if they struggle with sensitive teeth.
However, due to the active ingredients used in whitening treatments, there are a few notable exceptions. If patients are any of the below, they’re likely to be denied teeth whitening treatment:

    • Under the age of 18 – though this does depend on the individual circumstance
    • Who have poor oral health or unhealthy teeth and gums
    • Who are currently pregnant, or breastfeeding – as there are some concerns that bleach products can affect the health of your baby

What happens during teeth whitening in London?

Teeth whitening in London is one of the most straightforward cosmetic dentistry treatments you can opt for, and the best bit is that the results are almost immediate.

    How teeth whitening works

While the process can differ depending on which system you choose, teeth whitening generally works by using a bleaching gel and UV lighting to break stains down, causing a brightening effect on the overall appearance of your teeth.
This stain removal and lightening leaves teeth looking white, shiny, and beautiful – boosting your confidence and taking years off your assumed age!

    Teeth whitening without damage

The bleaches used in professional teeth whitening in London and elsewhere are usually either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, which are highly regulated to ensure the quantities used don’t cause damage to the teeth while improving the shade of your smile.

It’s worth noting that some cheaper at-home teeth whitening kits can be less stringently regulated, often containing harmful quantities of bleaching ingredients, which can lead to irreversible and highly painful damage to the teeth, gums, and tongue.

As such, it’s always worthwhile talking to a dentist before seeking whitening treatments and using at-home kits recommended by a dental professional to ensure you are safe.

How can teeth whitening help me?

If you’re unhappy with how your teeth look, then teeth whitening in London can be a fantastic solution for healthy but imperfect smiles.

Not only can this treatment make your smile get up to 8 shades brighter and whiter, but it can also boost your confidence and self-esteem in as little as a week!

It can even help undo staining and colour change along the gumline from drinking too much prosecco

Your whiter, stain-free new smile has endless benefits. As well as helping you look healthier, you’ll feel more confident, may find better career opportunities, and appear more attractive and friendly to everyone you meet – the perfect boost you didn’t know you needed.

How can teeth whitening help me?

This can occur if the peroxide is improperly applied to the teeth and makes contact with the gums.

You can rest assured, however, that if you use an experienced, well-trained professional you can rest assured that this is highly unlikely to happen.

The difference between teeth whitening at home or in-surgery

If you are researching online, you’ll find almost limitless options for teeth whitening in London – but quite often, you don’t have enough information on what happens during treatment to allow you to decide which treatment is best for you.

At LCCD, we offer two options, in-surgery, and at-home teeth whitening.

In-Surgery Teeth Whitening

In surgery, we use a treatment called Nu Radiance Duet. This tooth whitening treatment is minimally invasive, highly effective and could help your teeth go up to eight shades whiter, or more, in two distinct steps.

We offer the latest in teeth whitening treatment, Nu Radiance Duet

The London Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry is always at the forefront of dental technology, including teeth whitening in London.

As such, we proudly offer the Nu Radiance Duet system for sensitivity-free tooth whitening. The Nu Radiance Duet system offers fast whitening results with very little sensitivity and is safe, reliable, and highly effective, even working well on tough stains.

As a preferred whitening system for patients with pre-existing sensitivity issues, the brightening gel also contains Xylitol for the added benefit of cavity prevention.

Nu Radiance Duet is also fast acting, with individual treatments lasting around 30- minutes- making it ideal for busy patients who want fast results with shorter treatment times.

At The London Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry, we have whitened thousands of smiles and are one of the top choices for celebrities to get their smiles red carpet ready. Some of our more famous patients who have opted for teeth whitening in London include Amanda Holden, Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora, Spencer Matthews, Olly Murs, Una Healey, Aled Jones and Nicola Roberts to name but a few.

Your 2-step journey to a whiter smile

The first appointment will be your consultation with Dr Mervyn Druian.

If you are deemed suitable for this treatment, impressions of your teeth will be taken for your custom-made trays.

The second appointment will be when you receive your teeth whitening treatment from one of our hygienists or dentists.

During the treatment, the whitening gel will be painted on your teeth by the hygienist – you may feel a slightly warm sensation, but for the next 60 minutes all you have to do is relax in our comfy dental chairs.

After the hour is up, you will be given aftercare information to make sure your new smile can last for as long as possible.

In-surgery teeth whitening aftercare

Just as with all treatments, aftercare is very important if you wish to see long-term results. As such, our expert team have collated the most commonly requested aftercare advice for you to follow.

How long after teeth whitening can I eat?

Unless advised otherwise, you should be fine to return to your usual diet and eat or drink as normal once your treatment is complete.

It is worth noting, however, that in the 48 hours after your initial whitening treatment, we do recommend that you avoid dark-coloured foods and smoking to maximise the results and give you the smile you expect.

Similarly, if you want to help your results last even longer, you can ask our reception team for a full list of the foods and drinks to avoid after whitening

Continuing the results of your whitening

Once home, to continue your treatment, we recommend that you use your trays with the whitening gel for up to 30 minutes every day for two weeks.

But don’t worry – we will show you how to use your trays and how much whitening gel to put in them before you leave so you will know everything you need to continue your whitening with confidence

This is the stage where you will really notice a difference, and where many of our patients tell us people have started commenting on their beautiful smiles.

At-Home Teeth Whitening

At-home teeth whitening treatment is the most cost-effective, quickest, and simplest way to improve the appearance and brightness of your smile, perfectly designed for patients who are pushed for time and require alternative treatment options.

Worried that at-home teeth whitening will deliver substandard results?

Opalescence Go (our at-home teeth whitening treatment of choice) can deliver amazing results at home and allows you to use your custom-made trays to top up your gel anytime you want to maintain your white smile.

Common concerns about teeth whitening

Here at LCCD, we get a few key questions that are asked regularly, so we’ve collated them all together here for you to browse at your leisure.

Will teeth whitening work on fillings?

Fillings generally come in two varieties, amalgam fillings that have a silver-grey appearance and the more aesthetic white composite fillings.

Unfortunately, as the fillings are made from different material than the tooth itself, it is not possible to whiten either white or grey fillings.

If you are looking for more attractive filling options, it may be possible for us to replace your older amalgam fillings with their white resin counterpart – which will also improve and whiten your smile.

Will teeth whitening work on crowns?

Unfortunately, just as whitening fillings cannot be achieved, dental crowns are also unable to be whitened.

To get around this, before we add crowns we will usually whiten the natural teeth so the crowns and teeth match.

However, if your crowns become discoloured over the years, which is possible at the end of their 5-15 year lifespan, we can simply replace the yellowing or stained crown for a fresh, white one.
