Cleanings and Prevention

We recommend that individuals undergo routine cleanings and examinations bi-annually in order to best maintain the health of their teeth and gums.

Though an at-home oral hygiene regime is an effective means of preserving the health of the teeth, a professional, in-surgery cleaning is far more comprehensive and extensive than is possible at home. It also allows our team of dentists to examine the teeth and gum tissue, as well as take X-ray photographs of the underlying support structure, in order to catch potential problems before they have an opportunity to cause greater harm.

Sealants

This dental treatment is ideal for children and teenagers, as their teeth are particularly susceptible to decay. A sealant is a thin protective coating that is applied over the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to help safeguard against decay.

The application of sealants is a simple, safe, quick procedure. If you have children, this simple treatment can help them maintain their oral health without impeding their comfort or confidence.

Oral Cancer Screening

During routine dentistry examinations at our London practice, we perform comprehensive oral cancer screenings. Early detection is the best defence against cancer, and we take this threat to our patients’ health seriously at The London Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry.

Using a special wand that emits UV light, we can search for signs of discolouration within the gum tissue and other abnormalities that may indicate cancerous tissue. If we believe that you are at risk for cancer, we will direct you to a specialist so that you can undergo prompt treatment.

A quick and simple treatment that can be performed during routine examinations, we believe that the potential benefits of cancer screenings are far too great to not provide this service to our patients.

TMJ Treatment

The temporomandibular joint connects the lower jawbone with the upper jawbone. If this joint is out of alignment or the muscles surrounding the joint are inflamed, it can result in TMJ disorder.

The symptoms of TMJ disorder include headaches, jaw aches, tenderness, dizziness, and prominent clicking or popping sounds while opening the jaw. In most cases, the symptoms can be greatly alleviated through jaw and mouth exercises and the use of a specially designed mouth guard.

Our associate is an expert in the treatment of TMJ disorder, and lectures at London University on the subject.

Emergency Dental Care

We utilise a 24-hour pager service at our dental practice to meet the needs of patients requiring prompt treatment. Individuals who suffer dental emergencies or trauma are urged to contact our practice via phone as soon as possible. We will arrange treatment at our earliest possible opportunity to help ensure your health.

If a tooth has been knocked out, please keep the tooth in milk or saltwater until you receive proper dental care, and control any bleeding that may occur through the light application of gauze.
