Dr Mervyn Druian caused a phenomenon in UK dentistry when back in 1983 he became the first UK dentist to introduce the practice of porcelain veneers for smile designs.
He was a key founder of bringing the cosmetic dentistry revolution to the UK and treating a wide variety of celebrities.
Since then Mervyn’s cosmetic and aesthetic work has become internationally renowned and he frequently lectures and teaches dentists around the world.
The man behind many famous and beautiful smiles, Dr Mervyn Druian was the first UK dentist to complete the Aesthetic Advantage Programme at the Advanced level with Dr. Larry Rosenthal in New York.
He was then instrumental in launching it with Dr Rosenthal in the UK, running courses for dentists in Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry. Mervyn quickly became the UK arm of an elite team of instructors.
Even today Dr. Druian continues to use advanced American laboratories that have numerous patents on veneers for all his porcelain work.
Not only is Mervyn recognised by his peers as one of the leading innovators, but he is often heralded by beauty editors as “the leading expert in cosmetic dentistry”. He was recently awarded the “Most Outstanding Contribution to Aesthetic Dentistry” award; given only to those few who have had the greatest impact in dentistry.
Over 40 years of dedication
As a visionary for the last 40 years, Dr. Mervyn Druian has always welcomed and remained at the forefront of all new technology, innovations and dental advancements and his practice has quickly been seen as the place to go for long term comfortable solutions.
He was the principle dentist featured on the televised Extreme Makeovers UK and as a Key Opinion Leader works as a respected consultant for the Media. He has been featured in multiple national and international magazine and newspaper articles.
Introducing teeth whitening systems to the UK
As a creative director of dental advancements, Dr Mervyn Druian brought the first in-surgery teeth whitening system to UK (Kreative Lite) from the US in 1991. His progressive endeavours allowed him to become Founder of and past chairman of the British Dental Bleaching Society.
He was also instrumental in working with the British Government in allowing teeth whitening to become part of legislation so that dentists can offer it as a cosmetic option for treatment of discoloured teeth. As a result of his expertise, he became advisory to the Government.
Previously President of the Alpha Omega Dental Society, Mervyn has this year become the honoured International President of the Alpha Omega Dental Society.
Working with Professors in dentistry in Phoenix Arizona, Dr. Mervyn Druian set up the UK’s first London Cosmetic Fresh Breath Centre in 1990.
Dr. Druian’s keen interest to eliminate the causes of gum disease and tooth decay instigated the development of a concept that was unique in its approach to deal with the much needed yet much evaded the issue of bad breath.
His simplistic approach has prevented many dental issues from getting worse. He devised a unique plan of action that provides a more holistic approach to dental disease involving not only oral care but also lifestyle and dietary guidance.
As Clinical Advisor and Spokesperson to Venture Life (manufacturers of ULtradex and other oral dental aids), Dr. Druian believes in only using and advising products that have sound clinical research backing and proven to work. Therefore he only endorses products which he feels sets a benchmark for treatments.
Other Accolades & Presidencies
In 2016, Mervyn became a Fellow of the American Society of Dental Aesthetics and is the only English dentist to be granted this prestigious Fellowship. Mervyn became part of a group of dentists dedicated to dental excellence and the very highest standards of patient care.
Dr. Mervyn Druian is also the Honoured International President of the Alpha Omega Dental Society.
He is only the second European member to receive this accolade in the society’s 110-year history and was awarded in recognition for his service as chairman of the London Chapter and his lifelong commitment to promoting the tenets of the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity.
Dr. Druian has been Past President of the metropolitan branch of British Dental Association (BDA).
As a consequence, Dr. Druian has been a facilitator of any changes in dentistry including dental legislation. “I wanted my practice to be right in the forefront of positive change”, Dr. Druian explains.
As an Honorary Spokesperson for the BDA he is regularly consulted by both the BDA and media to liaise between the two thus ensuring the correct information is engaged.
As well as his commitment to the field of dentistry Dr. Druian has also worked with as much tenacity in his philanthropic work.
He is Treasurer of the Dental Wellness Trust. This charity helps to provide dental education to children of the third world and Mervyn has been an integral part of it since its induction.

Mervyn is delighted to have become the honoured International President of the Alpha Omega Dental Society (AO) for 2017.
Dr Druian is only the second European in the society’s 110-year history ever to be bestowed with this accolade and is very proud to be part of the organisation.

With countless awards, accolades and charity work to his name, he is now regarded as one of the UK’s leading authorities on cosmetic dentistry and is greatly revered within the field.
Dr Mervyn Druian receives two top honours
The first honour Mervyn received was the Meritorious Service Award, in special recognition of exemplary service, dedication and achievement in the dentistry world.
This is the highest award that any Alpha Omega member can achieve, in acknowledgement of their services to the profession and charities.
